Men are trying to go beyond the laws of God which are as sacred as Himself; in other words, they are trying to go beyond God Himself with such a fierce determination to do what the Creator doesn’t want them to do, to have things He doesn’t want them to have, or to enjoy things that go against the very fabric of their being.
If God was a major obstacle that stood in their way in the sense that He was to physically block them to do what they want, they would have just run Him over if they could.

When thinking about the atonement of Christ Jesus, you have no doubt in your mind that this was done to set you free from sins in order to make it possible for you to be able to live a victorious, holy, and righteous life for the glory of God.
Additionally, this atonement was intended to set you free from sinful lifestyles or behaviors that God didn’t create you to lead in the first place.
You read the Bible, you’ll see Scriptures after Scriptures affirming your victory over sin, the flesh, the world, and Satan.
During your life, you’ve already listened to many preachers preaching with authority and boldness over and over about that victory.
They’ve preached about the fact that it’s a finished work, you need nothing else other than what was done on the cross on your behalf. If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.
But after all, you still find yourself in a deep struggle with a particular sin that you cannot seem to overcome. It’s as if there’s a huge disconnect between the reality of that atonement and the reality that surrounds your life.
Why is all of that?
From a church-setting perspective, those living in sin can be classified as followed:
1) There are many people living in sin who have no intent at all to repent. Sadly, these people don’t even seem to be concerned at all about the deadly consequences of sin.
It could be that they just don’t want to do so due to their own deep comfort in their sins.
They have become fully convinced that their sinful behaviors are just normal to the extent that they start misinterpreting Scriptures for justification.
From their perspective, those who hold a strict biblical belief are the ones who don’t get it.
That’s the case for those being entangled in sexual immorality, such as homosexuality, premarital sex, pornography, and even adultery.
Or it could also be that they just have never been led to repentance of their sins as a result of cowardly preachers who don’t want to preach the true gospel.
These preachers have chosen to embrace a liberal approach concerning dealing with sin in order to appease people.
2) There are those living in sin who understand they are living in sin and the need to repent. But they just don’t want to make a decision now.
Strangely, these individuals tend to have a last resort plan of repentance. It’s always way after they have soaked up all the pleasures they want to enjoy their sins.
As for now, the time of repentance, they feel completely unready to do so because of their unwillingness to let go of something they have been dependent on.
If instant total freedom from their sins was available for them to just receive by faith, they wouldn’t need it.
In short, they have a Satan-given mission to fulfill in their sins based on getting that very last instant gratification, they cannot come to repentance until that mission is fulfilled.
They will never get it since that instant gratification doesn’t exist.
3) There are those living in sin who desperately want to overcome their sin once for all but find themselves being unable to do so.
Even if they try to break free, then they find themselves back in that sin. Oftentimes, it has become an ongoing cycle.
They are bound with chains of darkness by the devil; as a result, they cannot move beyond the length of these chains.
What happens is that they are swaying back and forth from wanting to overcome that sin and not wanting to do so.
When they make a decision to stop, they experience an intense desire to put a complete stop to that behavior once for all, particularly when thinking about how that sin has become a serious impediment to their spiritual lives.
However, when they make a foolish decision to go back, it unleashes such a massive desire within which compels them to try get back every bit of pleasure they have lost during the time they had abstained from such sin.
At this point, they just don’t want to overcome that sin.
4) There are those who find themselves in situations where the very person they are in a marriage relationship with will be away for a certain amount of time repeatedly, they’ve come up with a backup plan to satisfy their momentary urges within these times.
It could that one of them has an occupation that requires him or her to be away for an extended amount of time. Therefore, the other one tries to fill in the blank with someone else in the meantime.
The tendency is that they must be connected to something sinful.
5) Lastly, there are those who have victoriously come out of their sins by the power of God and are leading a holy and righteous life in His sight.
They are the ones enjoying the beauty of living a redeemed, fulfilled, and liberated life.
Where do you see yourself fit among these 5 groups of individuals?

Sinful experiences get to be registered in the mind like a film that can be played back in the form of reality. You can visualize yourself re-enjoying the act on the basis of what was registered in the mind.
When the flesh is in rage, it’s like there’s an intense contraction taking place within.
