You need your faith in the Word of God to get past your mind and feelings by looking all the way through the next dimension that will come right after your current struggle.
Meaning that you have to be able to see yourself beyond the realm of a particular temptation in the sense of going through it without having to succumb to it. You have to look beyond that craving which is just pure body sensations for a moment.
When it comes to satisfaction, you do need to change your whole mindset about it. The problem of your defeated life had to do with the reality that you used to conceive satisfaction only through the lens of following your sinful desires wherever they led you to. It was all based on doing something now to try to satisfy insatiable fleshly thirsts.
But now, you have to look at it in the context of allowing God to work through you in order to empower you to resist temptation.
You have to look at it in the context of allowing the power of God’s own satisfaction and pleasure (His glory) to overcome your own craving for instant gratification. You need to quench your thirst with the Spirit of glory.
The issue is that when focusing on instant gratification, you’ll end up losing on your greater aim which is centered upon setting your mind on the things above (Colossians 3:2).
Your satisfaction doesn’t have to be predicated on chasing instant gratification which will make you more vulnerable to upcoming temptations; in other words, which will create more desires for sin.
Your satisfaction needs to come from God Almighty who is able to do what sin cannot.
Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires (Romans 13:14).
The truth you have to get deeply embedded in your mind is that if you choose not to rebel against God while being able to do so, it’s not just for the sake of not wanting to dishonor Him but because His glory is your true satisfaction, not instant gratification in sin that leads to bondage.
You need to become so consumed with His glory to the extent that His satisfaction gets to become your own satisfaction. His pleasure gets to become your own pleasure.
God Will Take Care Of Your Regret Feelings
There’s an “influential or dominant sinful regret feeling” that tends to manifest when it comes down to people having to take drastic action to flee from sin they are deeply connected to; in other words, sin they feel that cannot live without.
That’s why carnal people firmly believe that certain opportunities to indulge in sin cannot be missed.
Therefore, that very mindset makes them feel that if they don’t quickly seize certain opportunities that come their way, they will regret it so badly later. In other words, they will have to pay the price dearly.
The flesh which has a strong tendency toward instant gratification will take vengeance against them. In other words, it’s something they will have to struggle with.
When you have the glory of God resting in your life, you don’t have to spend time thinking about or worrying about sinful pleasures that you are missing out on as a result of choosing to lead a holy life for His glory.
The very issue that has become a major stumbling block in people’s lives when it comes to following Jesus as far as sacrificing what they love is concerned is that their greatest concern stems from what they are going to lose.
Meaning that they won’t be able to do what they used to do freely. Following Jesus at any cost is tantamount to making such a tragic decision according to the sinful mindsets governing their thinking.
There’s so much to sacrifice. They have to sacrifice sinful pleasures they used to enjoy the most. Things that they are deeply attached to.
Things that they are heavilyly reliant on. Things they have developed such a massive sensitivity toward, which will create a profound sense of regret if they were to abandon them.
Well, God will take care of any regret lingering in the back of your mind you may have as you’re fixing your eyes more and more on His glory.
Temptation About Going Back To Sin
When choosing to abandon your sinful ways, you will be tempted to go back in order to renew your reliance on instant gratification.
In this case, you will have to rely solely on the power of God to sustain you. I have to be content with the reality that true satisfaction only comes from God.

A craving can actually bend the mind. You can actually feel something that grabs the mind and pulling you toward your sin like a magnet.
