The supreme glory of the Lord God Almighty in Christ Jesus by His Holy Spirit of power and love is the highest form of satisfaction, pleasure, joy, peace, comfort, and security.
You carry the breath of your Creator within. My Spirit and all that I AM is integrated so deeply within you like a tapestry, a finely woven fabric into the core of each cell of your body, My temple.
No enemy can prevail against that.
You must understand whom you are in Me. I call you to walk in that authority and power.
You must demand your spirit to have mastery over your soul nature, mind, intellect, emotion, feelings, thoughts, desires, and will.
This is crucial to overcoming.
Do not succumb to the flesh nature. Cry out to Me continually. I AM faithful to help you.
You have to live a crucified life by displaying the glorified one.
The secret to living addiction free is to change yourself in a way that addiction no longer does anything for you…
The key to living a victorious life in Jesus is to allow the Spirit of God to transform you to the extent that the very sin you used to rely on for sustenance, self-gratification, and self-relief purposes no longer does anything for you to the extent that it no longer fills a supposed need…
Where it no longer fills a supposed need – because you use for a reason…
Lord, this vice has replaced your priority, indispensability in people’s lives to the extent that they feel such a strong desire to compromise their relationship with You just to enjoy the instant gratification and relief this vice provides to get through a desperate moment.
That’s when indulgence has become more of a necessity than sticking on God.
The power of faith in God versus the power of the senses.
I can only rely on the thing of God by faith while the other option has to do with what I can do now in that same level of consciousness to deal with that situation.
When going through a moment of urge, it will always be challenging for you to try to dissociate yourself from the reality of indulgence that comes along with it.
It’s quite hard to get over it. It takes its precedence over your relationship with God.
Because the very area through which this urge is manifesting itself in is much more obvious to you due to the fact that it’s closer to your consciousness. It is also the embodiment of instant gratification and relief, which is what your flesh is convincing that you need now.
You can feel the reasons you should indulge mentally, emotionally, and sensationally.
The spiritual reasons tend to be perceived as far away. You don’t quite sense them in the realm of feeling since they are just conviction
When tempted, you feel quite disturbed. You’re being drawn away from the state of normalcy you were in prior to the temptation in the area of your thinking and feeling to a state of instability, insecurity, and discomfort.
This then creates an automatic need for a response to quickly get yourself out of such state in order to get yourself back to the initial state of normalcy you were in.
You are looking for reassurance.
The most challenging aspect of it is to get something in line with the reality that I am in to quickly counter the seductive offer for immediate gratification and relief this temptation is offering.
You find yourself more in line with the excited reality evolving outside of the will of God since that’s where your flesh wants you to be.
Memory System
The very scenes being embedded in your memory system will need some form of validation and reinforcement when popping up in your mind.
They need to remain sharp, fresh, and well-defined in your mind so that they can be easily recalled with great clarity.
They are crying out for your attention and interest. They are calling upon you to go and rewatch them. They’ve become the objects of your cravings.
Things To Nail On
Bear in mind, when any given thought relating to a particular scene shows up in your mind, it will always trigger an immediate response from you by generating the intent for you to instantly act out on it without giving you much time to think about the consequences of your action.
That’s the first impression. It’s going to be the immediate and instinctive reaction that you will sense in such moment. There’s nothing you can do about that to change it.
Giving in immediately will always be seen as the alternative that makes the most sense in that moment.
But its persuading power over the mind will diminish overtime as you delay succumbing to its deception. You do that by confronting it with the truth. That’s when you get to consciously realize that giving in isn’t going to be in your best interest.
Let it sink deep into your mind: The urge to indulge in is a false message sent by your brain due to its maladaption with porn as something you need for survival, comfort, and safety purposes to make you feel good regardless of the spiritual and moral implications.
Thus the urge that you feel trapped in is a false form of need regardless of how real and convincing its influences may be to you. It simply means that it will eventually fade away if you wait it out.
Thus the urgent need to indulge in right now that you feel having a strong grip on “your mind and body” will become unnecessary when it happens.
The feeling you normally experience from this vice after days of abstinence is that something essential you used to rely on for sustenance is missing.
The graphical and stimulating components of these scenes you used to enjoy are missing due to your abstinence.
It as if a part of you being in perfect union with these scenes you used to watch is left behind, thus you are incomplete. This creates the feeling that the bottom of your being has fallen out.
That’s why when sensing an urge, you feel the need to bring back something that wasn’t there to bring you through. You feel the need to go and watch these scenes to give yourself a sense of completeness and fulfilment.
To put this in perspective to illustrate how it feels when experiencing an urge during your days of abstinence to quit.
The very porn scenes and images popping into your head are being played repeatedly over the internal screen of your mind from a mental level. This leaves you with the impression that these scenes are actually being played from a physical level of reality that falls right behind the mysterious wall of your abstinence. In this case, your abstinence is seen as an hindrance blocking you from viewing these scenes. Thus your plan to quit becomes the main culprit.
This creates the urgent and desperate need in you to go beyond the wall of your abstinence because your mind has become preoccupied by what’s happening on the other side.
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority (Colossians 2:9-10).
Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh (Romans 13:14).
I pray for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are One: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me (John 17:20-23).
I am complete through my union with Christ Jesus.
Survival
- You don’t see how you can survive this moment without indulging in.
- You don’t see how you’ll be able to live life without this.
- You don’t see how you’ll be able to operate without this.
But in all these things, we are more than conquerors through the One having loved us (Romans 8:37).
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pull back into completeness every aspect of my being connected to the seductive reality of indulging in this vice.
The greatest cause of relapse is based on the preoccupation of the mind with the perceived reality being unfolded outside the realm of abstaining from this vice. In other words, your mind becomes caught up with what you’re thinking about which literally goes beyond the limit of abstaining from this vice.
Interestingly, the thinking that comes up into your mind regarding porn scenes that you had already watched creating a desire to rewatch them or scenes that you think may have been dropped behind your back leaves you with the impression that these things are happening as a reality. You immediately find yourself venturing into such reality.
There’s that huge connection between where you are now having to do with refraining from this habit and what you think is happening outside of it having to do with the reality of indulging in lying on the other side.
Quitting porn is similar to shutting the door of your exposure to such dark reality. While the door of exposure may be shut but such reality can still be perceived by the mind due to the fact the mind. And this reality has already been deeply embedded into the core fabric of the mind. Your abstinence is representative of such door.
Since the mind isn’t limited by space and time, you’ll eventually find yourself being caught up visualizing things that are happening behind your back, which generates the feeling you’re missing out on something.
Even scenes that you had already watched popping up in your mind have fallen into the reality lying outside your abstinence. Thus this will then create the need for you to reopen that door so that you can go and experience once again what’s you’ve been missing.
What that does is creating a sense dissatisfaction with where you are now.
I’m about to use the following analogy to illustrate the influence of this habit over your life.
In the area of survival, comfort, and safety, this vice creates a slot in your life by which it perfectly fits itself in as some form of electrical supply that powers your system when needed.
-
-
- Your addiction is representative of the electrical supply mentioned above.
- The many porn scenes you watched feeding this addiction as the current flowing in your system.
- The stimulation that makes you feel good is how your system reacts to the current flowing out of the scenes when watching them.
-
What you do by quitting is that you remove that power supply by throwing it away. Since it was an integral part of yourself, the need for it to keep powering your system in order to sustain you will continue to manifest itself.
The feeling that gets to come upon you is that a part of you is left behind. Sometimes, you don’t feel quite yourself since a part of you is missing. This creates the need to go back and pick it up, then fits it back in.
That’s where it’s important that we allow the Holy Spirit Himself to fill in that empty slot in order for Him to deal with the urges that will keep resurfacing later on.
Indulgence can be framed on our unwillingness to allow the Spirit of God to occupy the very slot of this vice in our lives. It’s also based on our refusal to allow Him to quench our desires.
-
-
- Deceptive messages
- It’s a false need regardless of how convincing it may be.
- It will fade away at some point.
- The need will be proven to be unnecessary at the end if I were to indulge in due to shame, guilt, and regret that will ensue.
- I’m complete in Christ.
- The Holy Spirit is sufficient to fill the slot this habit had occupied.
-
There will be great rejoicing when you finally get on the other side without giving in when the urge subside.
That’s when everything will go back to normal. That’s when you’ll also look back and think about how you almost blew up your precious days of abstinence.
Holy Spirit of fulfilment, I ask that You occupy the very place that this addiction had occupied in my life. Fill it in with Your divine presence. Quench these relentless sinful desires with Your power.
The flesh is similar to an envelope encasing your inner self. You’ll feel that you are being sucked in by the seductive power of the reality of caving in to watch the very scenes being templated in your mind.
You’ll also feel something within is pushing you toward your object of lust. There’s something within which is moving in the direction the urge wants to take you.
But the good news is that you’ll sense an internal resistance rising from the depth of your being restraining you from succumbing. As a born again believer, it’s coming straight from your regenerated spirit in which the Spirit of God dwells.
It means that you have to allow that resistance springing from your spirit to permeate your soul, the embodiment of the mind untill it subdues the flesh. That internal resistance must rule over the flesh.
This can only be done by your faith in the Word of God.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (Corinthians 10:13)
You become similar to something sliding down a steep path that needs a threshold somewhere along the way that can quickly keep you from either crashing over or falling off at the end based on your perception. Such dreadful reality lying somewhere at the end is something you don’t want to face.
You need something that can serve you as a crutch that you can lean upon to get a sense of normalcy mentally and physically. You’ve come to need some form of soothing support to sustain you that you feel can only be found in that particular sin.
You are looking for comfort, security, and reassurance. You only see yourself plainly through the lens of that sin in terms of instant gratification and relief to make yourself feel good.
The Glory of God
The glory of God is the realm of the absolute, supremacy, and sovereignty. His glory is the manifestation of His greatness. You become united with the source of all things being God Almighty Himself, the Great I AM.
We were created in the glory of God, the realm of the fullness of His holiness and righteousness. Sin being the antithesis of God’s glory has caused us to fall short of His glory.
Jesus being the physical manifestation of that glory, the glory of God in person came to bring us back to God’s glory. One day, the glory of God Almighty will destroy sin completely.
The glory of God is all about holy, divine, blazing fire and light emanating from His being, which no darkness can contend with.
However, that thirst for sinful gratification needs to be replaced by the glory of God Almighty. Your desires have to be shifted from indulgence to His glory instead, which is the ultimate source of satisfaction, pleasure, joy, peace, and comfort.
You have to see yourself now through the lens of His glory in Christ Jesus quenching your thirst for sin in the midst of temptation until the thirst fades away.
You have to allow God’s glory, the very essence of His being, His divine energy, His intense and glorious rays of light, the very substance that sin has caused humanity to fall short from to take care of your thirst for sin by absorbing the disturbing dark energy that sinful desires generate.
The glory of God must become your source of survival, comfort, and safety from sinful urges threatening your spiritual, mental, and physical state of being.
Instead of desperately trying to anchor yourself in the realm of sin to quench sinful urges, it’s time to solidly position yourself in the realm of God’s glory.
This can only be done by faith through God’s grace. It’s by means of His grace bestowed to us in Christ God has made Himself available to us.
Having faith in Him is to place our trust in His power to sustain us through a moment of urge until we get to the other side.
