The limbic system registers the pleasures of the many sinful experiences people have enjoyed through bodily sensations.
In other words, it registers how people felt all throughout these given experiences. People will be able to imagine what future experiences will be like on the basis of these experiences. Its sole means of communication is through feelings and emotions.
It builds memories of the pleasures derived from these experiences, which in turn will keep on creating a desire to further indulge in that activity again and again because it felt so pleasurable.
The more a person keeps on indulging in a particular behavior, the stronger the memories of these experiences have become, the more intense the desire to return in that behavior in order to re-enjoy the pleasures being embedded in that part of the brain is going to be, and the more of out of control such person will become as a result.
The signal that it sends through the body that builds up a longing about future experiences will become strengthened as well.
When people are so excited or curious about a particular experience they are so eager to have, there’s something that they feel that goes through the body that makes them want to have that experience just by thinking about it.
Oftentimes, it creates a strong impatience in people due to the reality that they would like to have it right now. That’s the part of the brain releasing a chemical called dopamine.
That feeling isn’t just limited to sinful behaviors, it could also be a special moment has been greatly anticipated for, such as wedding, graduation, trip, and so on. However, it’s the same type of feeling driving people toward sinful habits.
It will drive people desperate to the extent they’ve become convinced the only way to get through unpleasant moment is to act out upon that behavior.
It’s, in fact, the part of the brain that gets hooked up to pleasure in order to survive on it.
Whatever the brain has been fed with, it will create intense desire to go back to. The massive excitement and curiosity to just rush back comes from that part.
The problem is that it never can completely satisfy the longing or craving an individual has. What people will get from these sinful experiences is an instant gratification.
The neocortex registers the actual experience in the form of thoughts, such as what was done to get into the act, where, what was done to stimulate more pleasures, what was learned through that particular experience, what that moment was and felt like, how to keep that secret, and how to go back.
It’s the part that does all the planning. In short, it registers the very logic and reasoning behind these experiences in details.
This is the part of the brain where people’s imagination is located. Lastly, this is the part that fabricates excuses in order to justify sinful behaviors.
Therefore, one part of the brain provides the feeling, and the other provides the thought, which will be central when it concerns people going back in order to participate in a particular sinful behavior.
Feeling And Emotions
There’s a strong relation between both feelings and thoughts. They both go hand in hand.
The reality is that if you feel an emotion strongly enough, you’re going to have thoughts associated.
That means when people feel a certain way due to their exposure to temptation, how they feel will start provoking thoughts instantly.
In most cases, these thoughts will be related to what was registed in their minds from previous experiences.
Conversely, if they think about something long enough, they’re going to have emotions associated.
Meaning that if they start thinking about something related to the pleasures being deeply embedded into the limbic part of the brain, that will provoke the limbic system to start manifesting feelings pertaining to what they are thinking of.
These strong feelings are usually what will drive people back into their own self-defeating behaviors.
There’s such a strong bond and similarity between the very elements that I will address since they normally work in sync.
